Hope starting to spring for the Washington Mystics as team prepares to host the Sparks on Sunday

There is a ton of hope and optimism surrounding the fourth place Washington Mystics (12-13) especially with what the team is starting to see on the floor as players such as Shakira Austin and many others are starting to make their way back from the injury reserved list.

Lots of work to be put in before the franchise sees the return of Austin, but there is optimism and hope and the fact that there is still plenty of talent on the floor currently for this Washington Mystics team to get a win.

All of the talent, time, effort and hard work is hoping to be rewarded as the team returns to the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington D.C. in a two-game series with the Los Angeles Sparks (9-17).

One of the trends for the Mystics is the fact that the ladies have played well when it comes time for being within that venue, as they were able to see a victory on July 23 against Phoenix before going out west to take on Minnesota and Dallas.

This is going to be the first meeting between these two squads, and it’ll be interesting to see how the Mystics stack up when it comes time for going up against their Western Conference foes.

The Sparks thus far are in fourth place in the Western Conference and have a team that is going to be intriguing to watch.

Thus far leading the way for Los Angeles is Nneka Ogwumike as she is scoring 19.9 points per game, also she has been shooting well with a 51.0% field goal percentage. Another leader in helping the team’s offense is Jordin Canada as she has 5.9 assists per game.

As for the Mystics they are looking towards players such as Myisha Hines-Allen stepping up more and scoring during the course of the year. After having recuperated from a partially torn patellar tendon injury has been playing well since her return to the roster.

Myisha Hines-Allen along with Li Meng and Head Coach Eric Thibault shared these thoughts with members of the media after the team’s practice session on August 3…video is compliments of the Washington Mystics:

Meng is a scoring sensation for the Mystics, making a positive impact on the roster and now unveiling her customer LeBron NXXT Gen Sneakers that on one side had a portrait of her and the other the Washington Mystics unveiled recently.

Thus far Meng is seeing more and more of a consistent role for the Mystics, and having a stat line of 5.3 points, 1.4 rebounds, 0.8 assist (which is tied for fifth in the WNBA) and 0.3 steals (also tied for fifth in the WNBA).

There are a ton of excitement and positive energy surrounding the Mystics as the hype starts to build for their game on August 4, with the start of the game scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
