New York Liberty living the Dream in strong homestand with 95-84 against Atlanta

WNBA history was made Thursday night at the Barclays Center, as the New York Liberty completed a four-game series against the Atlanta Dream with a win by the score of 95-84.

The stat of the Night for the New York Liberty is the fact that with the team’s overall 95 points, that marked their ninth 90-point game of the season, three of which now have come against the Dream-including two 100-point games.

Leading the charge for the Liberty is Breanna Stewart, as she scored 25 points, while also grabbing five rebounds, and five assists in a half. ‘Stewie’ also joins her fellow teammate Sabrina Ionescu as the second WNBA player to score 30 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in a single game.

Ionescu was the first to do so in 2022 when the Liberty played the Las Vegas Aces in the game played on August 6. Sabrina is one of the youngest players in the league who continuously making history one play at a time. Fans of the Liberty feel confidence when it comes to Sabrina shooting Three-Pointers, as she is going to take those shots from the deep.

Speaking of Ionescu, she had herself a stat line of 12 points on 50% (4-8) shooting from the field, including 57.1% (4-7) from three, a game-high nine assists, and four rebounds.

Jonquel Jones has found her groove and there is no way she is being stopped now. Thanks to her fine play Jones got named to the Eastern Conference Player of the week and it is well deserved. Her performance the last few games shows why Liberty acquired her and why she was an MVP. Jones had 13 rebounds in the first half of the game, scoring 19 points and making this her ninth double-double.

As for the Atlanta Dream, they were led by Allisha Gray as she scored 18 points in the first half and was guarded heavily in the second guard. Allisha finished with 25 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.

“We played a really solid game, “said Coach Sandy Brondello after the team’s latest performance.
