New York City FC currently sitting in 13th place in the MLS standings and with a (4-7-9) record have been in a bit of an interesting trend. As they face their next test, a road trip to Montreal to take on CF Montreal they have tied the last five matches that they have played in.
Stade Saputo though has been a place that is favorable to NYCFC, as thus far they have a record of 5W-2D-0L . Anytime Head Coach Nick Cushing has spoken to the media he has believed that his squad is just a result away from getting the positive momentum they need to make that climb up the MLS standings, can this be that time.
There are some interesting numbers and facts when it comes time for Boys in Blue and them playing in Montreal. One such interesting fact is the fact that the guys has been held scoreless at Stade Saputo once. That was during the 2022 MLS Regular Season.
Another interesting bit of information is the fact that Montreal has never scored more than one goal against NYCFC.
It has been a while since the Boys in Blue have made the trip up North, as the last time they got to play in Montreal, it was for the 2022 Audi MLS Playoffs in the Eastern Conference Semis.
NYCFC fans are encouraged to check out the following video featuring thoughts from Head Coach Nick Cushing as he and the team prepare to take on CF Montreal:
That was a thrilling night for the squad, as Maxi Moralez, Heber and Talles Magno all tallied goals in the matches.
There has been a lot that has changed for the squad, as the franchise has gotten a lot younger and with the rules of MLS wanting to make things fair for everyone, been getting themselves to develop some of their younger stars. The news for the franchise though is that the transfer window is about to open up and fulfill the dreams of many who have wanted that player to help bolster the team to success.
Some of the good trends from this squad has been the fact that their style has improved, they have as of late been able to make short, accurate passes and they lead the MLS in the following categories.
They are first in accurate back zone passes with 4,807 total; they are third league-wide in pass accuracy. They are third in the East in both accurate passes and total passes.
Hopefully with all the momentum that is in their favor and the positivity that surrounds the belief that Coach Cushing has on their squad the tied can now turn from the team having seen tying results to winning results.
That can all start for them on July 1st with a trip to Montreal and taking on CF Montreal. The start of the match is set for 7:39 p.m. With fans wanting to catch the action can do so on the MLS Season Pass on Apple.
