There are a ton of nerves and excitement as the Washington Mystics are one day away from taking on the New York Liberty in the official start of the WNBA Season.
As the team is getting their rotations and sets in, it is going to be interesting to see how the ladies will wind up in terms of results against a team like New York.
One of the things that Head Coach Eric Thibault is going to focus himself on is having a team that prides themselves on defense and not only that but rebounding.
Coach Eric along with Ariel Atkins and Kristi Toliver share these thoughts after the team’s training session held on 5/18. Video is compliments of the Washington Mystics:
The ladies are hoping to put their full effort onto the court as they go up against the likes of Breanna Stewart, Courtney Vandersloot and Sabrina Ionescu.
What is an encouraging sign for the Mystics is that the team is fully healthy and ready to roll into the Home Opener. They have going into the game against New York a healthy Elena Delle Donne ready to dominate the WNBA once again.
Delle Donne, who is a two-time MVP and a six-time All-Star, is hoping to play for the whole 2023 WNBA season after dealing with back problems, that dated back to the 2019 Finals. Now thanks to care and consideration Elena is hoping to get back to her MVP form.
The Mystics are going to be a team to watch for as they have one of the strongest connected teams that are going to enter into Opening Day. They pride themselves on being a group that is focused on the team goals and playing together as one.
It is literally hours away as the Washington Mystics and the New York Liberty are set to take center stage and open up the WNBA Season. The game on 5/17 in the Entertainment and Sports Arena is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
