Blue Collar Effort for NYCFC in 1-1 tie with Orlando City

With New York City FC giving all of their heart and soul and effort the Boys in Blue (4-5-4) got rewarded for their fine play with a 1-1 draw against Orlando City (4-4-4) in MLS action on Wednesday night.

In a game that had all the feels to it, with a ton of momentum swings and wonderful soccer shown by both sides it was NYCFC showing true heart in getting the draw. One of the more goosebump moments from the squad coming right after as the team gathered midfield for a passionate speech to each other, in show casing unity and togetherness that hopefully can be shown as the season progresses.

It looked all gloomy at first as Orlando City tallied a very early goal thanks to Ercan Kara, which was his third in the last four games.

From there it was all nail-biting and waiting as both Orlando City and NYCFC had opportunities between the First and Second Halves.

One of the more impressive players in the match is that of Gabriel Pereira, as he had himself some fantastic opportunities.
With barely seconds ticking down on the scoreboard, with the team putting all their effort and might into the night. It was Gabriel Segal getting the game-winning goal.

Segal, who was put into the match by Head Coach Nick Cushing, was able to score a goal on a very special day as the Forward is celebrating a birthday today. The Washington D.C.-native was able to tally his first MLS goal.

With the tie the Boys in Blue were able to end a streak of four straight losses in all competition, all of these occurred on the road.
It will be a breath of fresh air for the team as now the guys will have time to reflect and spend with the family prior to their return to Citi Field on May 27, as they take on the ultra-tough Philadelphia Union.

The match between New York City FC and Philadelphia Union is set for 7:30 p.m.
