Stars set to shine for the 2023 edition of the New York Liberty

In the quiet moments while the ladies practiced and got their photos taken for the yearly media day tradition there was an intensity and a readiness that had surrounded the 2023 edition of the New York Liberty.

This franchise, which happens to be one of the teams that helped to lay the foundation for the current WNBA as a whole have been able to do a lot of winning and make a ton of history but have never won the WNBA Championship.

They have been able to win three conference championships, while playing in the WNBA Finals four times, but have never been able to hoist that trophy.

Things have changed a lot for the Liberty in their time in the WNBA, they are under a new ownership group in Joseph Tsai and company; and that change has been a positive thing.

Fans of the New York Liberty are encouraged to check out the videos below from the team’s media day at the Barclays Center. Videos are compliments of the New York Liberty:

General Manager Jonathan Kolb along with Head Coach Sandy Brondello

Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones and Sabrina Ionescu:

Betnijah Laney and Stef Dolson

Kayla Thornton and Epiphanny Prince

Han Xu and Translator Kevin Zhang

Jocelyn Willoughby and DiDi Richards

Nyara Sabally and Sika Koné

Morgan Green and Stephanie Mawuli

Especially it has been positive, because for the first time in many many years the 2023 edition of the New York Liberty has the fans of New York and around the world of Women’s Basketball excited about the team again.

Thanks to bold moves made by General Manager Jonathan Kolb, who started to elevate the team’s brand during the 2019 season. The Liberty who are now known as the WNBA Super Team is ready to not only content but win that WNBA Championship.
Bold moves such as adding names like Breanna Stewart, Courtney Vandersloot and Jonquel Jones, in helping to elevate the franchise in their quest to win.

It is going to be amazing to see how this team is going to fare, especially with Head Coach Sandy Brondello helping to lead the way. How Brondello is going to help to blend the combination of those who are in the WNBA for the first time to go along with, those who are Veterans but in New York for the first time, in addition to those who are Veterans is going to be amazing to watch.

All that can be noted after the team’s annual media day that was held at the Barclays Center, is that there is a level of intensity, professionalism and readiness that was displayed by every member of the team, as the countdown is on for the team’s first true test against Connecticut.

There was a certain level of joy that was spotted on the faces of the ladies as they shared their stories with the journalist in attendance, with already so many stepping up and owning their roles and stepping it up in both the weight room and the practices.
What seems the most apparent is the fact that the stars are set to shine for the 2023 New York Liberty squad, as not only the ladies but the fans are ready to take that next step towards their championship goals.
