New York City FC II Earn point on the road against Orlando City

New York City FC II had themselves a tough test on the road going up against Orlando City B drawing a 2-2 score at the end or regulation. As the shootout frame ended Orlando wound up the winners by a final tally of 8-7 and was able to gain the two points.

One of the bright spots for NYCFC Ii is the fact that they were able to win on many fronts of the pitch that included having 14 shots, 461 total passes (82.7% passing accuracy) along with winning 49 duels and 13 tackles.

Head Coach Matt Pilkington had this to say on the match, “I thought the performance, given how we started the game, overall was very promising. To concede two away (from home) early on, then to rally and come back in the second half and create a lot of opportunities and have a lot of the ball, I thought was really positive overall and something that we can build on moving into next week.”


Making his first appearance with NYCFC II is Maximo Carrizo, as the midfielder signed on with NYCFC as a homegrown player. Carrizo is the youngest player to sign a first-team contract in MLS history at the age of 14-years-old.


Thus far the midfielder has been able to make a total of seven appearances, starting in three and logging 292 minutes played. In the match against Orlando B he was able to see 71 minutes, one shot and seven passes.


Another star on the pitch was John Denis as he was able to help on one of the goals. Thus far Denis has been able to see some positive minutes for NYCFC II as he has one goal, and two assist.


In addition, NYCFC II had themselves a milestone moment as defender Samuel Owusu had his first goal of the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Season. Owusu had himself a strong showing against Orlando as he had one tackle won to go along with a 66.7% duels won percentage.


New York City FC II returns to the friendly confines of Belson Stadium as they take on Crown Legacy FC for the first time in MLS NEXT action on Sunday, April 30 at 7:00 p.m.
