Washington Spirit looking to continue their positive play when they host Houston

It is going to be an epic clash of soccer as the Washington Spirit take on the Houston Dash in NWSL action on Saturday (4/22) night. This is going to be the fourth match for both clubs.


Thus far the Spirit have been playing a great style of soccer as they hold a 2-0-1 record, while also being tied with the Portland Thorns.


These two franchises have a long history against the other, as the Spirit have a 5-7-4 record against the Dash.


The ladies have always fared well against the Dash at Audi Field, as five of the victories that the Spirit have had against the Dash have come on their home pitch. Thus far in the last two matches. The Spirit have faced the Dash twice as they played to a 1-0 victory on Halloween in 2021 and losing 2-1 last October.


Some of the returning players to the feud against Houston include Ashley Hatch, Aubrey Kingsbury, Andi Sullivan as they have been a part of 11 of the club’s 16 total matches.


One of the keys for the success of the Spirit thus far has been the play of their defense, as they have been able to neutralize scoring chances thus far. Washington has the most clearances in the league (84), is second in tackles won (38), tied for fourth in goals allowed (3) and tied for third in shots on goal allowed (12).


It is going to be a tough test for the ladies though, as the Dash are also undefeated and sit in sixth place (1-0-2, 5 points).
There is going to be a milestone alert for the Spirit as once the whistle blows and Sam Staab is on the field she is going to tie the league record for consecutive regular season starts (72).


It is going to be a thriller of a match as the Washington Spirit and Houston Dash clash at Audi Field in NWSL Action. The start of the night is set for 7:00 p.m. with fans wanting to catch the action can do so on the Paramount + network.
