New York City FC Gets to sing a sweet song in 2-1 victory over Nashville

Making their first appearance at Citi Field, New York City FC made sure that they made the night a memorable one by giving the crowd of 18,687 a 2-1 victory over Nashville in MLS action on Saturday.

In front of their supporters’ group “La Banda Loca” there were a ton of other notable supporters in the crowd as Mayor Eric Adams, Queens Councilman Franciso Moya and Councilwoman Sandra Ung watching the action.

Once the pageantry was completed the Boys in Blue kept the fans in attendance on their feet and rocking thanks to the goal by Keaton Parks, as he recorded his first of the season. This is Parks’ first goal with NYCFC since the 2022 Regular Season.

Helping to set up the goal by Parks was Mitja Ilenic as he now has assist in back-to-back matches for the first time in his career.
Around the 25th minute Maxime Chanot doubled the lead on a beauty of a right-footed shot from the center of the box.

New York City FC fans are encouraged to check out the video below as Head Coach Nick Cushing had these thoughts after the match:

There was a memorable moment for New York City FC and their support group as setting up Chanot on his goal is Richard Ledezma, who was making his first start with the team. The midfielder had himself a strong showing as he finished up the night on an 83% pass accuracy rating to go along with one shot on target.

Nashville tried to make things interesting around the 81st minute when Hany Mukhtar cut the lead to 2-1, but at the end of the day it was New York City FC and their stellar defense once again standing tall and gaining the three points.

One of the defensive stars of the match was goalkeeper Luis Barraza, as he was able to make five saves in the match. In the game against Nashville, he was able to see the most shots he has faced and the most shots saved thus far this season.

New York City FC will have a quick turnaround as they will next be in action on Saturday, April 22 as they take on FC Dallas at Citi Field. The action between NYCFC and FC Dallas is set for 7:30 p.m.
