Washington Spirit on a roll with victory over North Carolina

Only three games in but so far the Washington Spirit are undefeated as their latest victory was a 2-1 thriller over the North Carolina Courage.

It is the type of match that the Spirit hope to play more often, as the ladies were able to get the ball on the offensive side of the field and applied a ton of offensive pressure.

In what was a beauty of a goal Trinity Rodman got the scoring going early for the Spirit, as she busted out her best X-Box quality moves in getting the ball into the cage for her second goal of the season to go along with the 12th in her career.

North Carolina was able to tie things up with the goal from Kerolin, who shutter-stepped and got the penalty kick attempt past Aubrey Kingsbury tying the score up at one.

It wasn’t until later on in the match that Ashley Hatch blasted a penalty kick to for the eventual game-winning goal. For Hatch the goal was the 40th in her career and third of the season.

This was a huge match for the Spirit, as they previously have gone winless against the Courage in the past NWSL season. It not only lifted the past demons but also helped to get the team into the history books, as this is the second time in franchise history (2016) that the team has been able to start the season unbeaten through three matches.

It is going to be an interesting test for the Washington Spirit as they next take on Gotham FC on Wednesday, April 19, and that is going to be the second of three matches for the Spirit.
