Washington Spirit Continues to be Road Warriors as they take on North Carolina Next

One of the tough things about the sports season is how to deal with the ups and downs of the year. There are a ton of challenges along the way as things progress including that of the tough road stretches.

The Washington Spirit are in the middle of such a stretch as they take on North Carolina in the third game of the season.
Kick-off between the two franchises is set for 7:00 p.m. and the action will take place at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.

It has been a tough test for the Spirit whenever they go up against the Courage, as they have gone winless in all five matchups, that includes a loss in the Challenge Cup Finals.

In the last meeting between the two, the two teams wounded up with a 3-3 draw. Helping to lead the way was Trinity Rodman who was able to record two goals in the night.

Thus far the Spirit have not been able to find a victory on the road, as the last time the ladies was able to get a road victory was on November 2021, that was when they defeated the OL Reign in the 2021 Semis.

In the six degrees of separation moment Ashley Hatch, who was drafted by the Courage in 2017 is tied with North Carolina forward Kerolin for the second-most shots on goal (4) thus far in the NWSL regular season.

Whenever Hatch goes up against the Courage she always fairs pretty well, as she has been able to tally a goal in five of the last six matchups. That includes goals in five straight matches from November 2021 to June 2022.

In addition to Hatch there is also another player on the pitch that has ties to both the Courage and the Spirit as Estelle Johnson spent time in the Washington D.C. area from the 2015 season to 2018.

The stage is set as the Washington Spirit looks to get their first victory on the road in the 2023 Season, can they step up to the plate and defeat the Courage.
