USA Concacaf U-17 Championship Roster sees change

The U.S. Under-17 Men’s Youth National Team goalkeeper position has seen a chance, as Diego Kochen has been ruled out of the 2023 Concacaf U-17 Championship due to an injury. Concacaf was able to grant the U.S. Soccer team to name a replacement in San Diego Loyal goalkeeper Duran Ferree.

As per the rules of the tournament, an injured player may be replayed up to 24 hours prior to the kick-off of a team’s first match of the competition. The team must be able to find that replacement from the 60-player provisional roster and be approved by the tournament medical committee.

Ferree, who is the San Diego Loyal’s younger-ever signing, was able to make his debut with the club during the 2022 USL Championship season. The Goaltender was able to earn his first U-17 call-up during the team’s January training camp, in addition to training with the team in August.

The USA kicks off the Concacaf U-17 Championship on Saturday, Feb 11 vs Barbados. The time of the match is set for 8:00 p.m. with the action airing on the FS2 network.
