With a twinkle in her eye and a fire in her belly Jonquel Jones stepped up to the podium in front of the journalist that were in attendance and on zoom and introduced herself.
After spending six years with the Connecticut Sun, Jones is ready for the next chapter and with seeing how the Liberty have been able to change their culture she knew immediately where she had wanted to go.

“When I had seen the shift in the culture of the team I knew where I had wanted to go,” said Jones. “For me I wanted to be a part of the winning culture of New York.”
The native of Bahamian-Bosnian nation will have her nation behind her as well as the executives of the New York Liberty, as the team had The Honorary Isaac Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister Of The Commonwealth Of The Bahamas, The Honorary Leroy F. Major, Consul General to The Bahamas Consulate General in New York and Jeffrey Rodgers, Sports Ambassador, Ministry of Tourism in New York all in attendance to welcome Jones to New York.

Jones is just one of two players that the New York Liberty had added to help the offense, as the team is in year three of having Sabrina Ionescu with the squad, and the team searching for more offense to help their young star in her development.
Jonquel who brings a ton of experience in the playoffs, which is something that will be huge to the New York Liberty who have suffered a ton of playoff heartache in the years that they have been in existence.
Jones and the rest of the New York Liberty will start the 2023 season going up against the WNBA powerhouse the Washington Mystics on May 19 at 7:00 p.m.
