The Hofstra Men’s Basketball team will head to the Barclays Center on Sunday evening when it takes on Massachusetts in the nightcap of the Hall of Fame Invitational.
Tip-off from the home of the Brooklyn Nets is slated for 7 p.m.
The YES Network will broadcast the game and WRHU (88.7 FM) will have an audio-only broadcast available as well. Links to both can be found on this page and on the men’s basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.
The appearance at the Barclays Center is the program’s third-ever at the building, which opened in 2012. The Pride’s first game was an 88-62 win over Long Island on December 28, 2014. On December 11, 2016, Hofstra dropped a 96-73 decision to #6 Kentucky.
UMass will be the third Atlantic 10 Conference team on the Pride’s schedule this season as Hofstra defeated George Washington back on November 14 and fell in overtime to George Mason on November 30.
Hofstra is now 6-4 on the season following a road loss to #4 Purdue on Wednesday evening. Redshirt freshman Amar’e Marshall had a huge game for the Pride against the Boilermakers with a career-high 24 points, four rebounds, and a career-high tying four assists.
Massachusetts is off to a 7-2 start this season and most recently lost 85-80 to UMass Lowell on Thursday. The Pride and the Minutemen have no common opponents as of yet, but UMass has played Towson and South Florida this season, two future Hofstra opponents in 2022-23.
Hofstra is 1-2 all-time against Massachusetts. The teams first met during the 1970-71 season and the Pride earned its lone win in the series during the 1971-72 campaign. The most recent meeting occurred in 2008-09.
