For the second consecutive week, Fordham senior quarterback Tim DeMorat and sophomore linebacker James Conway were named GEICO Patriot League Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, when the League office announced honors on Monday. It is the sixth straight honor for DeMorat, the 2022 Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, and the third for Conway.
In a 45-14 win over Stony Brook on Jack Coffey Field on Saturday, DeMorat completed 27 of 39 passes for 371 yards and three touchdowns. The game was DeMorat’s 29th career 200-yard passing game, bettering the Fordham record of 26 set by John Skelton (2006-2009), and his 17th career 300-yard passing game, breaking Mike Nebrich’s (2012-2014) school record.
On the year, DeMorat has completed 186 of 275 passes for 3,023 yards and 33 touchdowns. He leads the NCAA FCS in passing touchdowns and passing yards/game and is second in passing efficiency.
Over his career, DeMorat, who earned weekly honors for the eleventh time over the past two years, has completed 892 passes for 11,586 yards and 100 touchdowns, all Fordham records.
Conway led the Fordham defense last Saturday, making a season-high 15 total tackles, four solo, including 2.5 for loss and one sack, as the Fordham defense surrounded just 14 points, all in the fourth quarter, and 82 net rushing yards.
On the year, Conway leads the team with 70 total tackles, 233 solo, including 7.5 for loss and two sacks. He also has a fumble recovery and two pass breakups. Conway is ranked second in the Patriot League in tackles/game (10.0) and fourth in tackles for loss/game (1.1).
The Rams, who are 16th in the latest AFCA FCS Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, return to action on Saturday, October 29, as they travel to Worcester, Mass., to face the Holy Cross Crusaders in a Patriot League matchup on Fitton Field at 1:00 p.m.
