Washington Spirit Will Play Host To OL Reign In Challenge Cup Semifinals

The Washington Spirit will host OL Reign in the 2022 Challenge Cup semifinals at Segra Field in Leesburg, Virginia on Wednesday, May 4 at 8:00 p.m. EST. Washington secured the fourth seed in the latest installment of the NWSL’s preseason tournament after Angel City FC defeated Portland Thorns FC Sunday night.

OL Reign compiled the league’s best Challenge Cup record with four wins, two draws and zero losses but will not be able to host its semifinal match due to its home field already hosting a Seattle Sounders FC match on May 4. The Reign will open the regular season against the Spirit at Audi Field on Sunday, May 1 and will remain in the DMV through Wednesday’s Challenge Cup match.

With a semifinal win, the Spirit will likely travel to either Kansas City or North Carolina to play in the 2022 Challenge Cup final on Saturday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m. EST. This scenario would cause the Spirit’s away match against the Chicago Red Stars to be rescheduled to a later date during the regular season.

Season ticket members will have access to a presale event to secure their seats at the semifinal match beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, May 1 following the Spirit’s regular season opener. Tickets will go on sale to the general public at noon EST here on Monday, May 2. Fans can also secure the best seats at the best prices for all regular season Spirit home matches through a Full 90 Club season ticket membership. Information on Full 90 Club memberships is available here or by calling 202-536-5999.
