Hofstra placed four in double figures in Wednesday’s 81-77 win over Princeton with junior Aaron Estrada leading the way with 20 points and adding seven assists. Sophomore Darlinstone Dubar added 15 points and four rebounds, while graduate student Zach Cooks tallied 13 points, seven assists, and four steals.

Cooks continues to lead Hofstra in scoring this season with 18 points per game. He is one of five in double figures for the Pride with graduate student Jalen Ray (14.0), Estrada (13.3 ppg), Dubar (12.6 ppg), and senior Omar Silverio (11.9).

Bucknell is 2-6 this season and dropped a road decision at St. Francis (PA) on Wednesday. Andrew Funk leads the Bison with 18.1 points per outing, while Xander Rice is second with 13.6 points per game. Alex Timmerman is averaging 11.5 points and a team-best 7.5 rebounds per game.

This will be the 31st all-time meeting between Hofstra and Bucknell with the Bison holding a 20-10 lead in the series that began in the 1955-56 season. The teams last met in Lewisburg in 2019-20 with Bucknell earning the victory. Hofstra’s last win in the series came in the 1997-98 season opener with the Pride winning 69-55 and Speedy Claxton tallying 20 points and six assists to lead the way. Hofstra won the first-ever meeting by the score of 88-62.

Similar to Princeton, the teams are connected by a former Hofstra head coach as Jay Wright is a 1983 graduate of Bucknell and was a member of the men’s basketball team. Wright led Hofstra from 1994-2001.
