The New York Liberty (10-9) are now on their first 2-0 winning streak since May after defeating the Dallas Wings (9-10), 99-96.
Tonight, the Liberty won their tenth contest, elevating their 2021 season record to above .500, matched their win total of 2019, and also secured their 400th win in franchise history.
New York was down as many as five in the contest, and led by as many as many as 10. In the fourth quarter, a 12-6 run by the Wings gave them an 81-80 lead. Following the lead change, the Liberty outlasted Dallas with a 19-15 run in the down the stretch of the contest to secure their second consecutive win in Brooklyn.
The Liberty set the franchise record for three pointers made in a contest, connecting on 15-31 (43.8%).
In a game that saw 12 lead changes and seven ties, New York finished with 27 team assists, their season-high. The team also totaled 29 rebounds and eight steals.
New York led by as many as nine in the first half and compiled a season-high 32-point first quarter.
Against Liberty Ring of Honor member and Dallas Head Coach Vickie Johnson, the Liberty tallied 44 points in the paint, converted on eight fast break points, and capitalized on 17 points off the turnover.
New York finished on 56.3% (40-71) shooting from the field and 50.0% (4-8) at the free throw line.
The Liberty are still undefeated, with a record of 7-0, when they score 85+ points in regulation.

Five Liberty players scored in double figures in tonight’s game (Whitcomb, Laney, Ionescu, Jones, Gray). New York is now 3-0 when five or more players reach double digit scoring.
The WNBA’s leading three-point shooter, Sami Whitcomb, belongs in the 2021 All-Star Three Point Shooting Contest. Whitcomb led all scorers with 26 points on 54.5% (6-11) shooting from deep. She helped the team to a record shooting night of 15 made threes, connecting on nearly half of the team’s total. Whitcomb also finished with 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
New York is also 3-0 when Sami scores 15+ points in the contest.
Liberty leading scorer and 2021 All-Star, Betnijah Laney,totaled 18 points on 53.3% (8-15) from the field, 50.0% (2-4) from deep and 7 assists. In the game against Dallas, Betnijah scored in double figures for the 18th time through her first 19 games in Seafoam and is currently the only player in the league to average 19.0+ points and 5.0+ assists per game.
Jazmine Jones recorded 16 points on 54.5% (6-11) from the field and 42.9%(3-7) from beyond the arc; her second consecutive game tallying 16+ points.
Sabrina Ionescu posted a double-double of 13 points and 12 assists (tied career-high) on 60.0% (3-5) shooting from distance.
Prior to tonight, Betnijah Laney and Sabrina Ionescu have combined for 15+ assists twice this season, both wins – May 18 vs. Minnesota and May 23 at Chicago. Now, with this combined 19-assist performance, the Liberty are undefeated (3-0) when the duo combine for 15+ dimes.
Isabelle Harrison led Dallas in scoring with 23 points on 75.0% (9-12) shooting and a team-high 7 rebounds.
