Bridgeport Sound Tigers fall to Bruins, 3-0

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers were able to generate plenty of chances but fell to the Providence Bruins by a score of 3-0 in AHL action on Wednesday.

In the cage for both teams, Jakub Skarek was able to tally 27 saves in his first appearance since Feb 19. Jeremy Swayman was able to earn his first professional shutout and sixth straight victory to start his career for the Bruins.

Bridgeport was able to start the game on a great note, generating a 13-7 edge in shots over Providence, and were so close to opening the first goal of the game.

The Bruins were able to gain the momentum in the Second and Third periods as they were the first to score, thanks to a goal by Matt Filipe, who recorded his first AHL goal.

Zach Senyshyn was able to increase the lead for the Bruins, thanks to a goal at the 10:06 mark. Karson Kuhlman netted the empty-net goal with 34 seconds remaining to ice the Providence victory.

The Sound Tigers will return to action on Monday, March 15, with a 1:00 p.m. rematch against the Providence Bruins. These two teams will meet again on Providence’s home turf, at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, Mass.
