New York Liberty Look to Have Strong Effort Against Fever

The 2020 Women’s National Basketball Association Season is coming to an end for the New York Liberty (2-17) who are looking to end the season with some strong efforts and showings. The first of the final three games the team will play will be against the Indiana Fever (5-15) that will happen on Thursday.

Here are some news and notes for fans to enjoy:

On Tuesday night, the New York Liberty (2-17) fell to the Los Angeles Sparks (15-5), 96-70.

In her fourth career start, Jocelyn Willoughby totaled a game and career-high 21 points, shooting 87.5% (7-8) from the field and perfect 5-5 from beyond the arc.

Kia Nurse recorded 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds which ties her season-high on the glass.

Paris Kea added 11 points in 14:48 minutes off the bench on 60.0% (3-5) shooting from deep.

Indiana is coming off a 92-86 loss to the Las Vegas Aces on September 8.

Kelsey Mitchell, the WNBA’s no. 7 ranked scorer (17.8 ppg), led all scorers with 24 points on the night.

In the teams’ first meeting of the season on August 13, Indiana outlasted New York, 86-79.

Two Liberty players set season-highs in the matchup. Kia Nurse led all scorers with 21 points and 6 rebounds, while Layshia Clarendon netted 20 points against their former team.

In 2019, the Indiana Fever won the season series, securing wins in 3 of the 4 total matchups.

Despite dropping three contests to the Fever, New York averaged 80 points per game in the 2019 series.

Since 2000, the Liberty’s 30-46 record against the Indiana Fever marks the team’s lowest winning percentage against a WNBA franchise (.395).

MILESTONES TO WATCH FOR:

Kia Nurse – Currently sits at 986 total career points, and will have the chance to join the 1000-point club in against the Fever.
Kiah Stokes – Has a total of 897 career rebounds.
Amanda Zahui B – 930 career points.
Layshia Clarendon – Averaging a career-high 11.5 points per game.

The game between the New York Liberty and Indiana Fever is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
