Hofstra MBB Buie Named CAA Player Of The Week For Second Time

Hofstra Men’s Basketball senior Desure Buie was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week for the second time this season, it was announced today by the conference office. Buie previously earned the honor on November 25.

It was a spectacular week for Buie as he averaged 25 points, six rebounds and five assists per game in leading the Pride to a pair of road wins to open CAA play.

Buie got started in Hofstra’s 82-76 win over James Madison on Saturday as he tallied 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists to push the Pride to the win. Buie scored all 15 of his points in the second half as Hofstra rallied from a 12-point second half deficit.

On Monday at Towson, he was on fire as he poured in a career-high 35 points in the Pride’s 75-67 win over the Tigers. He was 9-14 from the field and drained six of seven shots from beyond the arc, while adding six rebounds and six assists in helping the Pride rally from another 12-point second half deficit. It marked just the second game of at least 35 points, six rebounds, and six assists in the nation this season. He easily eclipsed his previous career-best of 29 points set at UCLA earlier this year.

For the week he shot 14-27 (52%) from the field, 7-13 (54%) from three-point range, and 15-19 (79%) from the free throw line.

This season he ranks as the Pride’s leading scorer with 17.7 points per game, while also leading the way with 5.7 assists and 2.4 steals per outing.
