Sky Blue FC Sign 2019 NWSL College Draft Pick Paige Monaghan

Sky Blue FC have added 2019 NWSL College Draft pick Paige Monaghan to their roster ahead of the National Women’s Soccer League season. Per team and league policies, terms of the contract were not announced.

Monaghan, 22, returns to her home state of New Jersey after being selected No. 10 overall by Sky Blue during the NWSL College Draft that took place on Thursday, Jan. 10 in Chicago, Ill.

“I am beyond blessed to have been drafted and now signed with Sky Blue FC,” Monaghan said. “I’m absolutely ecstatic for this journey, and I’m ready and looking forward to being the best version of myself for my teammates, coaches, fans and organization. Jersey Strong. I’m coming home!”

“Paige is a very talented player that can play both outside back and as an attacking flank player,” Head Coach Denise Reddy said.“She is very ambitious and has the talent, desires and character to be very successful in the league.”

“We are thrilled to have Paige on board as part of Sky Blue and even more excited to be able to help bring her home to New Jersey, the state where she was born and raised, and where she found incredible success while playing club soccer at PDA,” President and General Manager Tony Novo said. “We are confident that she will contribute greatly to our success as a club.”

A graduate of Butler University, Monaghan recorded 22 goals and 19 assists in 80 appearances as a Bulldog.

While at Butler she was named to the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, college soccer’s most prestigious award. In addition, as a junior she was named the 2017 BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year after scoring a team-high 10 goals and recording a team-high six assists.

Monaghan has also received recognition on the national level with four separate call-ups to the U-23 U.S. WNT.
