Staten Island Yankees Wrap-Up July 8

The Staten Island Yankees have started to sizzle in the month of July taking a three game series against the Hudson Valley Renegades before opening up the Battle of the Bridge at Richmond County Bank Ballpark on July 7 with a 3-2 victory.

In the first game against Brooklyn Junior Soto broke a 2-2 tie with a solo shot in the eight inning to help lead the Pizza Rats to the victory. Soto had a 2-for-4, 3RBI day to help lead the offense

Staten Island will be playing as the Pizza Rats for every home game this season. 

Also helping to lead the offense for Staten Island was Frederick Cuevas who had a 2-for-3 day at the dish and catcher Jerry Seitz who finished the game with three hits.

The Yankees Swept the Hudson Valley Renegades in three games prior to the Battle of the Bridge vs Brooklyn.

In the 7-3 Game One victory Canaan Smith homered on a fly ball to right field which highlighted the offense in the the Baby Bombers victory.

Alex Junior and Andres Chaparro singled and doubled to lead the Yankees to the 8-6 victory on July 5.

Staten Island rounded out the series with a 3-2 victory over Hudson Valley as Mike Ford doubled to plate Ricardo Ferreira, which was a key moments in the Yankees victory over the Renegades.

The Yankees will continue the Battle of the Bridge tonight at MCU Park. Probables for Brooklyn will be RHP Noah Syndergaard (ML rehab) v.Staten Island RHP Roansy Contreras (0-0, 1.62 ERA).
