The Staten Island Yankees (6-12) took two of three games against the Brooklyn Cyclones (11-7) in the Second Edition of the Battle of the Bridge. The 2018 edition of the New York-Penn League rivalry is currently tied a three game apiece.
Game One Staten Island won 3-1 on July 1
• Andres Chaparro cranked a tie-breaking, two-run home run against Mac Lozer in the top of the ninth inning to give Staten Island a 3-1 lead.
• Cyclones starter Kyle Wilson spun a career-high-tying six innings of one-run ball, allowing one run on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
• Staten Island’s Roansy Contreras struck out five over 5 2/3 innings, surrendering one run on three hits and three walks.

• Mac Lozer allowed his first runs of the season, yielding the third home run of his career.
• The Cyclones lost consecutive games for the first time this season, and have dropped three of their past four contests.
• In the “Battle for the Bridge,” the Cyclones and Yankees have split the first four of 12 meetings this season.
Game Two Brooklyn Won 7-4
- Ross Adolph went 2-4, including a two-run home run in the top of the second inning to give Brooklyn a 2-0 lead. He added a game-tying RBI single in the sixth inning, making it 4-4.
- The Cyclones broke a 4-4 tie, scoring a run when Chase Chambers hit into a double play with the bases loaded.
- Jose Medina added insurance for the Cyclones, crushing a two-run double into left-center field in the eighth to push the advantage to 7-4.
- Relievers Billy Oxford, Ryan Selmer, and Yeudy Colon combined to twirl 5 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball. Colon earned his first save, collecting the final six outs.
News and Notes for the Cyclones
- Brooklyn snapped its two-game losing streak, improving to 11-6.
- The Cyclones relief core provided 5 1/3 scoreless innings, the first such scoreless game since June 24 vs. Lowell.
- Ross Adolph mashed his first professional home run, and owns a team-leading 15 runs batted in.

Game Three Staten Island won 5-1
- Nolan Martinez turned in 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball, allowing one run on two hits with four strikeouts in a rehab start. Martinez finished his outing retiring 12 of his final 13 batters.
- Brian Sharp’s second home run of the season, a solo blast, gave Brooklyn the early 1-0 lead in the third inning.
- Staten Island scored five runs over the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings against reliever Joel Huertas. Andres Chaparro’s solo blast and Jerry Seitz’s two-RBI single highlighted the damage.
News and Notes for the Cyclones
- With Tuesday’s loss, the Cyclones have dropped consecutive series after beginning the season winning four sets in a row.
- Both infielder Carlos Cortes (0-4, 2 K) and reliever Tommy Wilson made their professional debuts.
Up next for the Brooklyn Cyclones is a three game series against Aberdeen IronBirds starting today (Wednesday, July 6) at MCU Park with the first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Scheduled to pitch for the Cyclones is RHP Briam Campusano (2-1, 2.19 ERA) vs. RHP Jimmy Murphy (1-0, 1.69 ERA).
