The St. John’s Men’s Basketball team (8-8, 2-1 BE) fell to No. 10/10 Creighton (14-1, 2-1 BE) by a final score of 85-72 in NCAA Division 1 action at Carnesecca Arena.
Leading the way for the Red Storm on the offensive side of the court was Marcus Lovett, who had 23 points. Shamorie Ponds had 17 points, while Tariq Owens finished with 12 points.
For Lovett the performance was his second-consecutive 20-point performance, as the guard was 4-of-5 effort from beyond the arc.
One of the biggest reasons for the loss was the fact that St. John’s was unable to connect on many shots, going 39.4 percent from their floor, five points below their season average.
The Red Storm will hit the road for its next two games, before playing the defending NCAA National Champions Villanova at Madison Square Garden on January 14 at Noon.
