It was a Super Day in the City as the New York City Football Club were able to earn a 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Union in Major League Soccer action at Yankee Stadium.
The Three Designated Frank Lampard, David Villa and Andrea Pirlo all recorded goals in the match that helped to snap a four-match winless streak for NYCFC.
For Lampard it was not only his first goal for New York City FC, but it was also his first start of the club. The veteran midfielder made his presence known immediately, scoring that goal in the eighth minute.
Villa, who now leads Major League Soccer with his 11 goals, thanks to his shot in the 21 minute that went to the left of the Philadelphia Union keeper and into the cage. To cap off the scoring Pirlo recorded his first Major League Soccer goal in the 50th minute.
With this victory New York City FC is now in Second Place in the Eastern Conference Division, two points behind the Union, who had an eight-match MLS unbeaten streak snapped today.
New York City FC will now head to CenturyLink Field to take on Seattle Sounders FC next Saturday at 5 p.m. before returning home to meet the rival New York Red Bulls at Yankee Stadium July 3 at Noon.
