The St. John’s Women’s Basketball team (5-1) earned a hard-fought 67-54 victory over Sacred Heart (1-5) in NCAA Division 1 action at Carnesecca Arena on 12/3.
Leading the way for the Red Storm was Senior Aliyyah Handford who finished the game with a season-high 24 points, five rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal. Danaejah Grant and Akina Wellere both had 17 points.
One of the biggest reasons for the team’s victory was in thanks the effort by the team’s defense, as the ladies forced 25 turnovers, to go along with five blocked shots.
The ladies will next be home on Wednesday, December 9 in a doubleheader with the men’s team on that day. It will be RED OUT for basketball day with the men’s team starting off the action against Niagara at 5pm and the ladies versus Yale at 7pm
