After what has been a rough stretch the New York Cosmos (1-2-1 Fall, 6-7-1 overall) were able to get back on track in the NASL Fall Season with a hard fought 2-0 victory over the Fort Launderdale Strikers (1-3-1, 4-5-6)  on 8/2.

Playing the aggressive style that earned them the NASL Spring Title, the Cosmos went back to attacking early and often, much like it did in the past-the club was rewarded for their efforts with an early lead.

After a booming shot by Raul that went off the crossbar, New York got on the board first after Hunter Freeman found the back of the cage at the 27 Minute Mark.

Leo Fernandes added on to the lead in the 43 Minute marker, and the defense was able to take care of the rest-as the club as a whole was able to shut down several great opportunities by the Strikers. For the Cosmos D the shutout was the sixth of the season.

Returning to the club after his time at the CONCAF Gold Cup matches with El Salvador was Andres Flores, who saw positive minutes and even attempted two shots on the cage during the course of the match.

There will be no rest for the weary as the Cosmos will be right back in action on  Wednesday, August 5, when they host Minnesota United FC. It will be a stretch of three matches in seven days for the club, but for most it was felt that confidence was regained thanks to the play from the match versus Fort Lauderdale on Sunday.
