The Brooklyn Cyclones (20-17) were a hit in their return to MCU Park earning a 6-3 victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades (19-18) in New York-Penn League action on July 29.

Brooklyn, who entered into the game tied for First Place, were able to break out of that for now, as well as an offensive struggle; recording nine hits in the victory.

The bats for the Cyclones were able to get started early in the first inning, as Tucker Tharp and Jeff Diehl provided the fireworks (via the home run) behind some brilliant pitching by Kevin Canelon.

Canelon went six innings, striking out seven batters, giving up only four hits and only allowing one run to pick-up this Third Victory of the season.

Tharp and Vinny Siena got the Cyclones offense going in the First inning with back-to-back hits, Michael Bernal would bring both runners home on a triple to right-center field. Bernal scored later in the frame on an RBI ground out by David Thompson as Brooklyn took a 3-0 lead.

The Cyclones added a run in the Bottom of the Fifth when Tharp hit his homer to left field. For the Brooklyn Outfielder that was his first career home run, Tucker has been hitting well at MCU Park holding a .667 average going 4-for-6.

Hudson Valley plated runs in the Top of the Sixth Inning, before a two-run moster shot by Diehl in the Eighth gave the home team some breathing room.

Brooklyn will now go to Hudson Valley for the Final Game of this Series with Tyler Badamo (1-4) on the mound in his eighth start of the season. The Cyclones return to MCU Park Friday night to take on the Batavia Muckdogs.

In Game One against Batavia it will be Gaby Almonte (4-2, 2.38 ERA) taking on Justin Jacome (0-0, 3.24 ERA) with the game scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to get to the park early as first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a Smoke & Fire Cap.
