Major League Lacrosse announced today that New York Lizards face-off man Greg “Beast” Gurenlian has been awarded the FOAthlete of the Week for his Week 6 performance against the Chesapeake Bayhawks, presented by the Faceoff Academy.

Gurenlian went 28-for-32 in faceoffs against the Bayhawks with an 87 percent faceoff win performance. This game marks the fourth time this season, second consecutive, that he has been awarded the FOAthlete of the Week award. Gurenlian has also received two Coca-Cola Player of the Game awards this season.

“Greg has turned faceoffs into a specialized position. Across the league we see that faceoff wins help dominate the game and we are clearly reaping the benefits with such a great faceoff man on our side,” said New York Lizards Head Coach Joe Spallina. “Greg is very deserving of this award. Nobody works harder at his trade day in and day out than him.”

Among other highlights of the Lizards’ 15-14 win over Chesapeake in Week 6, Rob Pannell had a six point game with 4 goals and two assists, and both Matt Gibson and Mike Stone netted hat tricks. As the only undefeated team in the MLL thus far, will travel to Charlotte on May 30th to play the Hounds and protect their first place spot. They will return home on June 5th at 7:30 p.m. to take on the Florida Launch. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive exclusive New York Lizards Player Trading Cards.
