The New York Cosmos (3-2-0, 11 Points) are looking to extend their unbeaten streak to six games against FC Edmonton (1-2-1) in North American Soccer League Action on May 10, with the action set to start at 2:00 p.m.
FC Edmonton has always been a tough team for the Cosmos, the two teams have met a total of five times, resulting in four draws and a Cosmos win that came in the 2014 NASL Spring Season.
In the last match that was played on September, 2014 at Clark Field, Danny Szetela scored a goal in the 51st minute off an assist from Mads Stokkelien.
So far the 2015 Cosmos have had different heroes for each match they have played. In the last match versus the Ottawa Fury FC Lucky Mkosana scored his first goal of the season off a Leo Fernandes assist in the 14th minute to secure the victory.
Fernandes has been a bright spot for the Cosmos throughout the 2015 Spring Season, having made an impact in several matches.
Here are some other interesting notes for the match versus FC Edmonton:
- The New York Cosmos had not started a season unbeaten for more than two consecutive games in the modern era prior to 2015. But heading into Week 6 of NASL play, the Cosmos (3-2-0, 11 points) are one of three teams in the league that have yet to lose. With a win against Ottawa Fury FC last weekend they expanded their lead in the league standings to three points over the second place Tampa Bay Rowdies.
- At the midway point of the NASL Spring Season the Cosmos continue to lock down opposing offenses. Jimmy Maurer, Carlos Mendes and the rest of the defense have recorded three straight shutouts. The last goal allowed came in the 12th minute of an April 11 fixture, via Indy Eleven’s Brian Brown. That’s 348 minutes of game time without conceding. The NASL’s modern era record is 372 minutes, set by the Cosmos over the course of the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

The Mother’s Day Matinee between New York Cosmos and FC Edmonton is set to start at 2:00 p.m.
