The Hofstra Men’s Basketball team will host the College of Charleston on Wednesday as the Pride will play its final regular season home game at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.

Tip-off for the game will be at 7 p.m. and the game is being presented by W.B. Mason and will also serve as HEADstrong Awareness Day with Hofstra Basketball.

For ticket information visit HofstraTickets.com or call the Hofstra Athletics Box Office at (516) HOF-TIXX.

Prior to the contest the program will honor its two seniors in a pregame ceremony as Wednesday marks the final appearance during the regular season at the Mack Sports Complex for graduate guard Dion Nesmith (Union, NJ) and senior center Moussa Kone (Bronx, NY).

Hofstra enters its regular season home finale with an 18-11 overall record and a Colonial Athletic Association mark of 9-7.

As part of the HEADstrong Awareness event, the Hofstra team will be wearing the foundation’s lime green shoelaces. Nicholas Colleluori, the founder of HEADstrong and a former Hofstra University Men’s Lacrosse student-athlete, chose lime green to represent the HEADstrong Foundation because it’s the awareness color for non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. HEADstrong Foundation’s Lace Up™ campaign uses lime green shoelaces as a vehicle for promoting cause awareness and increased visibility. As part of the awareness day, Hofstra University alumnus and former member of WRHU Sports Christian Heimall will be in attendance. Christian is battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and Hofstra University stands with him as he #BootStompCancer.

With its 13 three-pointers against William & Mary on Sunday, Hofstra established a new single season school record for three-pointers with 262. It broke the old mark of 256 set by the 2006-07 squad.

Kone and Nesmith are nearing the end of the Pride careers and both have played a significant role in the turnaround of the Hofstra program this season. Kone is averaging 8.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and nearly a block per game this season. He has started 20 of the 21 games he has played in. Nesmith is fourth on the team in scoring at 10.7 points and is second on the squad with 77 assists. He has played in all 29 games and made two starts. Kone ranks fifth all-time in program history with 111 blocked shots, while Nesmith has scored 1,242 career points including two seasons at Monmouth. During his Pride career, Nesmith has tallied 710 points.

Charleston is 8-21 overall and 3-13 in league play. The Cougars have dropped four of their last five, including a 68-61 decision at James Madison on Sunday. Canyon Barry and Joe Chealey lead CofC with 12.7 and 12.2 points, respectively. Adjehi Baru is third on the team in scoring with 8.1 points and leads the squad with 6.3 rebounds per contest. Chealey has dished out a team-high 100 assists this year.

Hofstra currently sits in fifth place in the CAA standings, behind the four-way tie for first at 11-5 that includes Northeastern, William & Mary, James Madison and UNCW. Charleston is in 10th place, one game behind Elon.

Hofstra will have one final regular season contest this season following the home tilt against Charleston as the Pride will head to James Madison on Saturday, February 28 for a 4 p.m. contest against James Madison. That contest will air in the New York area on SNY. Check your local listings for broadcast information in your area.
