St. John’s senior guard D’Angelo Harrison was named to the watch list for the 2015 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Named after Hall of Famer and 1959 NCAA Final Four Most Valuable Player Jerry West, the annual honor in its inaugural year recognizes the top shooting guards in Division I men’s basketball. Harrison was one of 16 candidates selected by a national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel.

Harrison is second in the BIG EAST with 18.6 points per game and has scored double-figures in 24 of 26 games this season. He has recorded 20+ points 11 times, including three 30+ point performances. Harrison ranks fifth in the BIG EAST with 53 3-pointers and seventh in free-throw shooting percentage (81.6 pct).

A two-time BIG EAST Player of the Week and four-time Weekly Honor Roll selection, Harrison has scored double-digits in 12 of 13 BIG EAST games. He is second in the league in minutes played (35.5) and 12th in rebounding (5.7). Harrison has recorded three double-doubles, including a season-high 33 points (10-of-14 FG, 6-of-8 3FG) and 10 rebounds on Feb. 11 versus DePaul.

Harrison currently ranks fourth among NCAA Division I players with 2,084 career points. The 6-foot-4 guard has scored 1,109 points in BIG EAST games which ranks 21st in conference history. Harrison is also one of five active Division I players to record 500 rebounds, 200 3’s, 200 assists and 100 steals in his career.

By early March, the list of 16 finalists will be narrowed to five players. The final five players in contention for the award will be presented to Mr. West and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee. The winner of the 2015 Jerry West Award will be presented at the new ESPN College Basketball Awards Show live from Club Nokia in Los Angeles, Ca. on April 10.
