Long Island Ducks Add Local Product Bryan Sabatella

The three-time Atlantic League champion Long Island Ducks announced on Monday the signing of outfielder Bryan Sabatella. A native of Port Jefferson, N.Y., he begins his first season with the Ducks and third in the Atlantic League.

“We are excited to add a Long Islander like Bryan to our team,” says Ducks president and General Manager Michael Pfaff. “He has proven an ability to get on base, use his speed and score runs throughout his career.”

Sabatella comes to Long Island after spending 2014 with the Kansas City T-Bones of the American Association. In 97 games, he posted a .307 batting average and .378 on-base percentage. In addition, he totaled three home runs, 45 RBI, 59 runs and a league-leading 40 stolen bases. The 30-year-old spent the previous three seasons with the New Jersey Jackals of the Can-Am League and combined for a .302 batting average, 21 homers, 132 RBI, 147 runs, 35 doubles and 83 stolen bases.

The outfielder began his career with the Seattle Mariners organization in 2005 and played two seasons at the Single-A level. He later played a total of 93 games with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League in 2008 and 2009. While there, he combined to bat .283 with five homers, 36 RBI, 51 runs, 14 doubles and 22 stolen bases. The Aquebogue, N.Y. resident played high school baseball at Shoreham-Wading River and collegiate baseball at Quinnipiac University. Sabatella was originally drafted by the Mariners in the ninth round of the 2005 amateur draft.

The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
