St John’s MBB edges Marquette 60-57

In a thriller of a game at Madison Square Garden the St. John’s Men’s Basketball team (13-5, 2-4 BIG EAST) earned a 60-57 victory over Marquette (10-8, 2-4 BIG EAST) on Wednesday.

In a game that saw nine lead changes and nine ties, it was the Red Storm as a team on both offense and defense working together that helped to shift the momentum in their favor.

Sporting the new Grey Under Armour uniforms there were four players finished in double-digit scoring, led by Senior Sir’Dominic Pointer who finished the game with a double-double of 15 points, 12 rebounds to go along with six assists and six blocked shots.

Sophomore Rysheed Jordan also had 15 points for the Red Storm, as the guard continued to look aggressive and going to the basket.  D’Angelo Harrison and Phil Greene IV both finished the game with 11 points, as both were able to contribute some huge buckets in the game.

Now St John’s will focus on getting ready to take on No. 5/6 Duke as Coach Mike Krzyzewski comes into Madison Square Garden looking to win his 1,000th game of his career. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.

Phil Greene IV was presented with a commemorative ball prior to the game to honor the fact of the Senior Guard becoming the 49th member of the 1,000-point club. Greene IV reached the milestone last Wednesday scoring a team-high 20 points with a career-high five 3-pointers in a 13-point victory over Providence.
