The St. John’s men’s basketball team looks to carry momentum from its 13-point road victory at Providence to Allstate Arena where the Red Storm will meet DePaul (9-9, 3-2) on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. eastern. St. John’s (12-4, 1-3) used its best 3-point shooting performance of the year to earn the Red Storm’s 10th double-digit victory on Wednesday at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. The Red Storm converted 10-of-17 (58.8 percent) attempts from downtown, including a career-high five 3-pointers from Phil Greene IV to get past the defending BIG EAST champions. Four St. John’s starters combined for 75 of the 83 points. Greene and D’Angelo Harrison led the way with 20 points each, while Sir’Dominic Pointer added 18 and Rysheed Jordan had 17 on 6-of-11 shooting.
The Red Storm returns to Allstate Arena looking to avenge a two-point setback last year against the Blue Demons. St. John’s enters Sunday’s contest with wins in three of its four contests either on the road or at a neutral venue this season. The Red Storm’s offensive production has fueled this success as the team has averaged 75.2 points shooting 45.8 percent from the field and 42.9 percent beyond the arc in these four contests. Harrison (22.5), Greene IV (15.3) and Pointer (13.8) have all increased their scoring averages away from home.

- St. John’s has elevated its play in challenging road environments this season picking up notable double-digit wins at Syracuse and Providence. In these two contests, the Red Storm has shot a combined 57.6 percent (19-of-33) from 3-point territory and 44.3 percent (47-of-106) from the field. D’Angelo Harrison averaged a team-high 22.0 points (50.0 FG pct, 66.7 3FG pct) and Phil Greene IV averaged 19.0 points (44.8 FG, 56.3 3FG). St. John’s snapped the Orange’s 55-game home non-conference win streak at the Carrier Dome before a crowd of 24,884 and handed Providence only its second loss in 11 home games at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center this season.
- In 55 career BIG EAST appearances, D’Angelo Harrison has averaged 17.6 points and has 967 career points in conference action. He is 33 points shy of becoming the 38th player in BIG EAST history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. Harrison currently leads the BIG EAST averaging 25.3 points and he is ninth in the conference with a 50.7 percent field goal percentage in four league games.
- The Red Storm leads the BIG EAST in field goal percentage defense (39.1 pct), blocks (6.7/game), defensive rebounding (26.6/game) and ranks second in steals (8.3). St. John’s has two players that rank in the top-5 of the conference in blocks (Obekpa 3.6, Pointer 1.9), rebounding (Obekpa 7.9, Pointer 7.3) and steals (Pointer 2.3, Jordan 1.9).
- Phil Greene IV became the 49th player in St. John’s basketball history to score 1,000 career points on Wednesday. Greene matched D’Angelo Harrison with a team-high 20 points in an 83-70 victory over Providence. The Chicago native scored 12 of his 20 points in the first half, including the milestone 3-pointer with 2:18 remaining in the stanza. Greene’s 20 points matched a season-high and it was his fifth double-digit scoring performance in the last six games.
- D’Angelo Harrison reached the 20-point plateau for the sixth straight contest and 49th time in his career on Wednesday at Providence. Harrison’s layup at the 5:37 mark in the second half sent him into third place on St. John’s career scoring list surpassing Felipe Lopez (1994-98 – 1,927). The 6-foot-4 senior guard now has 1,930 points in 108 career appearances at St. John’s. Harrison is on track to join Chris Mullin (1981-85 – 2,440) and Malik Sealy (1988-92 – 2,402) as the third member of the program’s 2,000-point club.
