The Hofstra Men’s Basketball team (8-4) snapped a two-game losing streak in the 88-62 victory over LIU Brooklyn (4-7) in the Second Game of the Brooklyn Hoops Winter Festival held at the Barclays Center.
Finding contributions from the entire team, the Pride looked smooth in the next-to-last non-conference game of the season.
Hofstra had four players in double-figure scoring as Junior Forward Ameen Tanksley leading all with his 32 points off of 12-of-20 shooting from the field. Classmate Juan’ya Green followed with his first triple-double of the season, as the guard recorded 15 points, grabbed 10 boards while distributing 10 assist in the game.
Graduate Guard Dion Nesmith had a good night for the Pride with his 13 points, while Sophomore Guard Brian Bernardi rounded out all scoring with his 12 points.
Overall Hofstra continued to have a hot hand from the 3-point arc, as the Pride finished the game 51.9% from downtown. Prior to the game versus LIU Brooklyn the team was ranked sixth national in three-point field goal percentage and 11th in three-point field goals made-per-game.
The Pride will have one last non-conference game on the road versus Central Connecticut State, before starting up Colonial Athletic Conference play with a road trip to UNCW on January 3. Hofstra will next be in the Mack Sports Complex on Monday, January 5 when they host Delaware,w it tip-off for that game scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
