St John’s Women’s Basketball Danaejah Grant Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Following a week that saw the Red Storm win a pair of games and improve its record to 9-0 on the season, Junior Guard Danaejah Grant has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced this morning by the league office.

Grant, the conference’s leading scorer at 19.4 points per game on the season, had another stellar week for the Red Storm, averaging 17 points and six rebounds per contest in wins over UCF and NJIT.

This is the second weekly honor of the season for Grant, who was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Nov. 17.

Against the Knights on Thursday, Grant poured in a game-high 20 points on 10-of-15 shooting, in addition to pulling down seven rebounds.  The outburst marked the fourth occasion this season upon which Grant has reached the 20-point mark.

In only 25 minutes of action against NJIT on Sunday, Grant scored all 14 of her points in the first half, a period that saw her convert on six of her nine attempts from the floor.  The Piscataway, N.J., native also grabbed five rebounds against the Highlanders.

For the week, Grant made 62 percent of her field goal attempts.

Grant and the Red Storm return to action on Saturday, kicking off the Seventh-Annual St. John’s Chartwells Holiday Classic against Auburn at noon.
