Regular Season Home Finale ends in a Draw For Cosmos

The New York Cosmos got the performance they wanted and the support they had been hoping for, but at the end a goal by Tampa Bay Rowdies Evan Frimpong earned the visiting team a draw in North American Soccer League action on October, 25.

At the start of the night the Rowdies were able to get on the board first as Frimpong was able to find the back of the net, putting the ball past a leaping Jimmy Maurer at the 24th Minute for the lead.

New York climbed back when Hagop Chirishian equalized on a pinpoint goal from the right side to tie it up at the 27th Minute. Both the Cosmos and the Rowdies fought throughout the night, with the teams getting some great opportunities.

Hans Denissen was one of the impressive players for the Cosmos as the Forward was able to get himself open on many occasions. Denissen finished the night with three shots. Also impressive in his debut with the club was Jimmy Mulligan, who was able to create several chances throughout the night.

The Cosmos finally broke through at the 49th minute when Marcos Senna used a patented free kick to put the team up 2-1. It had seemed as if the team had the match fully under control, but that sadly was not the case.

It was in the closing minutes of the match that the Rowdies started to become more aggressive and attacking the Cosmos defensive end. Tampa Bay kept on attacking until the 91st Minute when Frimpong tied it up, and the night ended in a Draw.

Things got heated between the two teams after the final horn had sounded, but after a while cooler heads prevailed and the team took time to thank the 8, 565 in attendance to catch the Regular Season Home Finale.

As of now the Cosmos are in third place and are projected to take on the San Antonio Scorpions in the 2014 Soccer Bowl. New York does have one final game on the road to take on the Scorpions on November 1.
