The Long Island Ducks (40-29) were able to complete the sweep against the Camden Riversharks (23-47) in walk-off fashion via an 8-7 victory in Atlantic League of Professional Baseball action on July 6. This is the third walk-off victory of the season for the Ducks, who continue to show fight and hustle before the end of the first half of the season.
Leading the hitting overall was outfielder and Captian Lew Ford who had three hits and an RBI in the game, though first baseman Joash Broadin had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth via an RBI double. Shortstop Dan Lyons continues to swing a hot stick recording two hits and two RBIs in the game. Fehlandt Lentini and Cody Puckett both had a hit each.
Ford leads the Flock with 28 multi-hit games this year and leads the Atlantic League in RBI (56) and runs (54). Lentini earned another hit on Sunday and has now hit safely 30 of his last 31 games. In that span, he is batting .377 (49-for-130). Lentini currently leads the league in hits (97), doubles (24), stolen bases (30) and at-bats (291).
As of July 6 Ford leads the Atlantic League in RBI (56) while sitting in second place in average (.366) and third in homers (15). Pitcher John Brownell leads the league in wins (8) and strikeouts (74).
Long Island continues their homestand at Bethpage Ballpark when they open a three-game set with the Sugar Land Skeeters on Monday at 7:05 p.m. The pitching match-up for that day will feature Ducks righy Jared Lansford against Sugar Land righty David Pauley.
