PREVIEW and VIDEO: St. John’s v Butler

A lot of demons were lifted for the St. John’s Men’s Basketball team (17-9, 7-6 BIG EAST) 82-60 victory over Georgetown on Sunday.

There will be no rest for the guys though as they will have to now concentrate on what is still a very competitive and tough Butler team on Tuesday, February 18.

Having to balance keeping his team hungry, while also making sure the guys get their rest St. John’s Men’s Basketball Coach Steve Lavin spent some time with the New York media today talking about his team’s amazing run so far.

St. John’s have now won eight games in the last nine opportunities, looking like the team that experts had predicted would play earlier on this year. As of now gone are the memories of the 0-5 BIG EAST start, though the team is still very aware of the fact that they need to play their game to continue this great run into the month of March.

Leading the way in the Red Storm victory over Georgetown were Rysheed Jordan and D’Angelo Harrison who had 24 points each. For Jordan the 24 points were a career-high to record his first-career 20-point performance. Jordan also made three 3-pointers (3-of-6), a new career-best. The freshman is averaging 12.3 points in the past seven games.

For Harrison the Junior guard recorded his 12th 20-point game of the season, 36th of his career, with a 24-point effort. Harrison also went 2-of-6 from long range to record his 13th multi-trey game of the season. Harrison passed Bill Schaeffer (1,484) on the all-time scoring list and now sits in 13th place with 1,500 points, just four behind D.J. Kennedy (1,504).
