Here are some notes for those fans getting ready to watch the New York Knicks (37-22) take on the Utah Jazz (32-29) in NBA action at Madison Square Garden.

This will be the first of two meetings between the Knicks and the Jazz this season, with New York holding a 1-0 season series victory from last year. The Knicks were able to gain a 99-88 victory at the Garden, and will look to add upon that tonight.

Steve Novak tallied 19 points and grabbed two rebounds in that one game against the Jazz last season. Tyson Chandler recorded 14 points and seven boards.

The Knicks hold a 42-42 all-time series record against the Jazz, with a 30-12 record at home.

In their last home game the Knicks fell just one point shy to the reigning defending Western Conference Champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder by a final of 95-94 on Thursday night. J.R. Smith led all scoring with his season high 36 points on 14-29 shooting from the field. This was Smith’s first 30-point performance of the season.

1958: The Knicks thrashed the Philadelphia Warriors, 123-81, at Madison Square Garden. Seven Knicks score in double figures with Kenny Sears leading the way with 20 points.

2011: Carmelo Anthony caps a 31-point night by burying a 19-foot jumper with: 00.5 left to lift the Knicks to a 110-108 victory at Memphis.

The Knicks and the Jazz game are slated to air on the MSG and NBA TV network, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
