Here are some notes for those fans watching the Brooklyn Nets (28-20) who are on the road to take on the Detroit Pistons (18-31) in NBA action on Wednesday.
If the Nets win it would be the second victory in a row against Detroit, while snapping a 10-game losing streak to the Pistons, which dates back to 12/26/06. Brooklyn has been able to hold 29 of their first 48 opponents under 100 points in regulation and is 24-6 in those games.
Just One Away
Deron Williams is currently one assist shy of 5,000 for his career and has played just 553 career games. Deron would be the third-fastest active player to reach the milestone (Chris Paul, 510 games and Jason Kidd, 531 games). He’d also be the 56th player in NBA history to reach the mark.
Leading the way for the Nets 92-83 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday was Brook Lopez, who scored at least 30 points for the second time this season.
Lopez is the only player in the NBA averaging at least 19 points, seven rebounds and two blocks per game this season. Among centers Lopez is first in the NBA in scoring (19.0 ppg) and ranks 14th overall in the league in points-per-game.
The Nets and the Pistons is set to air on the YES Network, with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m.
