The New York Islanders made two waiver claims this week, first-up getting Joe Finley on Monday and following up that move by claiming Thomas Hickey off waivers on Tuesday.
Finley, 25, has appeared in 36 American Hockey League games this season with the Rochester Americans, scoring five points (one goal, four assists) with a plus-3 rating. The Edina, MN native has appeared in five career NHL games, all with the Buffalo Sabres in 2011-12.
Hickey, who has appeared in 33 AHL games this season with the Manchester Monarchs, tallying 12 points (three goals, nine assists) with a plus-4 rating; while being selected to his first AHL All-Star Game in 2012.
