The New York Lizards (3-2) got a huge home victory, a final of 11-10 over longtime Major League Lacrosse Rivals the Boston Cannons (2-3) in Major League Lacrosse action on Friday night.
In front of a great crowd at Shuart Stadium, it truly was a battle of who wanted it more and at the end of the night it was the Lizards grinding the game out for the victory.
Leading the way on the offensive side of the ball was Ned Crotty whose three goal and two assists performance earned him Coca Cola Player of the Game Honors. Rob Pannell made his presence known with two goals on his bobblehead night, one of them being off a beautiful give-and-go pass from JoJo Marasco. Max Seibald had two goals, while Matt Striebel, David Earl, Tommy Palasek and Kevin Unterstein all had one goal each.
New York keeper Drew Adams had a huge night, including two saves towards the end of the game to help close out the victory. Face-off master Greg ‘The Beast’ Gurenlian recorded 15 wins in the face-off X, while also recording two ground balls. Defenseman and Army Second Lieutenant Tim Henderson had two ground balls in his first game back with the team after a year on active duty in Afghanistan.
The Lizards will be on the road for two huge road games in Florida and Denver, before returning home to Shuart Stadium to host the Charlotte Hounds on Saturday July 21. The game between the Lizards and Hounds is set for 7:00 p.m.
