Islanders v Senators ~4/814

Here are some notes as the New York Islanders (31-36-11) play in the final home game of the 2013-14 season at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum against the Ottawa Senators (33-31-14) in NHL action on Tuesday night.

LAST GAME:

4/6/14: NYI 0 at CBJ 4

The Islanders had their seven-game point streak snapped Sunday, falling 4-0 to the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena. Sergei Bobrovsky made 31 saves for his fifth shutout of the season.

TONIGHT’S MATCHUP

The Isles play their 2013-14 home finale tonight against the Ottawa Senators. It’s the third game of the season between these teams and the Sens’ only trip to Long Island. The Isles won both games played in Ottawa.

TEAM NOTES: 

Home Finale: The Isles are 23-11-6 in their regular season home finale, including wins in the last two and points in the last 4 (2-0-2).

Hot Streak Ended: The Islanders saw their season-high seven-game point streak (5-0-2) come to an end Sunday in Columbus. They are 7-3-2 in their last 12 games.

Gallant Recalled: Brett Gallant earned his first NHL call up on Monday. Johan Sundstrom was returned to Bridgeport.

Final Home Game: Tonight is the Isles home finale, as they finish the season with three road games.

Nielsen: Frans Nielsen, having a career year (24g, 29a) is one point away from 250 career points.

The Islanders and Senators game is set to air on the MSG Plus Network, with face-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
